Every day over a million people pay to use the skills and knowledge of other people on Fiverr – the people being paid can make up to tens of thousands per month.
Fiverr is a digital marketplace, but unlike other marketplaces, digital products aren’t being sold; services are being sold.
You can find video editors, screenwriters, graphic designers, marketers, actors, and every type of person under the sun selling their services on Fiverr.
If you spent just 30 minutes browsing the site, you can find all sorts of gigs being advertised.
If there aren’t any particular skills of yours that you can think of as ‘marketable’ then you would actually be wrong!
Before you read more about Fiverr, learn how to create a profitable business in just 21 days!
If you’ve been on this planet for at least a few years, you have undoubtedly picked up skills, personality traits, and information that other people would be willing to pay for!
Fiverr is a very active marketplace with over 50 million transactions taking place on the platform every single month.
There’s even a successful business on Fiverr where all they do is write a message in a bottle and throw it in the ocean for you! If that person can make it for Fiverr, then I know for a fact that you can too. Here are some simple steps for firing up your first Fiverr business:
STEP 1: RESEARCH
Get used to the landscape of Fiverr before you continue. See what people sell, see what performs the best. Get a feel for pricing and for what works on Fiverr.
STEP 2: NICHE DOWN
Figure out what kinds of services you will sell. You may already have niche in your head right now. You may be a highly skilled individual, and your most useful skills might have already come to mind.
Some of us might need to think for a while about this and that’s okay. It’s not always the easiest finding what services you can sell to people.
If you have some knowledge in graphic design, you can design logos, ads or websites for people.
Those with a background in marketing and entrepreneurship have a lot to offer on Fiverr. You can do copywriting, ad formation, SEO, or a review of a business’s marketing practices to show them what they can improve on.
If you have a decently sized social media presence, there is a lot for you on Fiverr. You can do paid shoutouts, promotions, and so on. The bigger your presence, the more you can charge.
If you have a professional college degree or certification, then you can offer your consulting services on Fiverr.
If you can’t think of what niche to select, do some more digging around on Fiverr. After at least an hour of browsing, you will all kinds of niches for you to choose from. Even if you don’t have a specific set of skills to apply, you can even do things like video transcriptions or data entry work.
STEP 3: CREATE YOUR ACCOUNT
Now that you have a niche in mind, it’s time to create your Fiverr account.
Fill everything out – don’t leave a section of your profile left out.
Fully created Fiverr accounts way outperform accounts that aren’t completely filled out.
STEP 4: COME UP WITH YOUR FIRST 5 GIGS
Now it’s time to come up with the exact services you will be offering. Each listing for a service on Fiverr is called a ‘gig’.
Make sure all of your gigs stay within your niche or niche(s) for your profile. It can actually hurt your performance on Fiverr if your gigs are all radically different.
For example, if you have a twitter shoutout gig, and then a cooking lesson gig followed by a programming gig, your profile will be all over the place and overwhelm your potential customers, scaring them away.
Just like with your profile, fill out as much as possible with your gig. The gigs with more information will outperform the gigs with less information.
Make sure you have a specific, detailed description, photos, a compelling title, and appropriate tags.
You’re not limited to just 5 – you can come up with as many gigs as you would like during this step, 5 is just the minimum.
STEP 5: WAIT
Now that your gigs are listed and operational, wait. Give them at least 3 months and fulfill your orders as they come.
Don’t add any more gigs in this period, just sit on your current ones. You are gathering data during this step.
STEP 6: OPTIMIZE
After letting your first few gigs run for at least 3 months, you should now have enough data to make some decisions.
You will usually find that most of your gigs will not produce stellar results. In that initial period, there is usually one gig that stands out from the rest as a clear winner.
Now it’s time to optimize based off of the data you gathered.
Create at least 5 new gigs, each new gig being a variation of that winning gig. Obviously something about it worked, now it’s time to optimize even further and create a gig that outperforms that first winner.
With your new gigs, make some slight changes. Maybe in one of the new gigs, you offer more selections to choose from. Maybe in another, you write up a longer description. Maybe each of these new gigs offers a very slightly different service than the original winner.
After creating these new variations of the winning gig, let them run for another 3+ months to gather new data.
After this period of time, you will find a new winner among this last test group. This ‘super winner’ will be your focus.
STEP 7: SCALE
Take your super winner and scale it. Focus on marketing that one gig and growing that one, as the data has proven that it is the winner.
Dedicate your time and money on this super winner in addition to amassing a pool of good reviews for it.
While you scale your super winner, you can still conduct tests on the side. You can constantly create new gigs and test variations of those gigs to find a number of winners to focus on, as not all gigs will have equal success.
If you effectively follow these 7 steps, you’ll be on the path for being a Fiverr superstar.
Those on the platform making tens of thousands of dollars each month are the ones who follow this strategy.
