Once you’ve gotten someone to sign up for your email list, the real challenge is keeping them subscribed.
How many times have you given a website your email address in exchange for their lead magnet, only to either unsubscribe later, or let the emails sit unread in your Promotions folder?
Probably a lot.
You need to keep providing value if you want to retain your subscribers.
And the first few emails are crucial — you need to make a great first impression.
Your “Welcome” messaging doesn’t have to be constrained to a single email.
Instead, you can arrange it into a small drip campaign. This gives you plenty of space to cover what your brand does, to give some social proof, and to let readers know what they can expect from future emails.
In a recent blog post, Hubspot presented a great infographic that lays out a roadmap for a great email series to start off your relationship with each subscriber.
